Drum Mix Plant

A drum mix plant is a manufacturing facility for producing asphalt paving mixtures that continuously proportions the aggregate constituents into the mix through its cold feed system, dries the aggregate, and adds a proportional amount of asphalt binder through a metering system into the same drum. The aggregates are fed from calibrated cold feeds into the dryer drum mixer, where the aggregates are dried, then sprayed in, and mixed to form the completed asphalt mixture. Variations of this type of plant use several types of drum modifications, separate (and smaller) mixing drums, and coating units (coater) to accomplish the mixing process.
