Durability

Durability is the property of an asphalt paving mixture that describes its ability to resist disintegration by weathering and traffic. Included under weathering are changes in the characteristics of the asphalt, such as oxidation and volatilization, and changes in the pavement and aggregate due to the action of water, including freezing and thawing.
