TxDOT Test Procedure Changes: 

These test procedures have been approved for statewide use, effective October 2024.

TxDOT Specification Changes:

These Special Provisions and Special Specifications have been approved for statewide use and are required for all projects using these specifications, beginning with the February 2025 letting. However, the use of this Special Specification prior to the February 2025 letting is at the district’s option.

  • Special Provision SP 3096-006 (2014)provides for the use of non-carcinogenic chemical such as Toluene in solubility test following AASHTO T44, updates specification limits for PG binders at intermediate temperature, better specifies the upper and lower limits for separation tests following Tex-540-C and adds an optional screening test for PG binders at low temperature. This Special Provision will also replace current Special Provisions SP 3096-003 (2014) and SP 3096-005 (2014), effective February 2025 letting.
  • Special Provision SP 316-001 (2024), “Seal Coat” This Special Provision, SP 316-001, is currently posted as a onetime use and is being elevated to statewide use with no change in language.
  • Special Specification SS 6012 (2024), “Dead End Roadway Barricade” This Special Specification elevates the current one time use Special Specification 6012 to statewide use, no changes in language.
